Online 3in1 Program, WRE Department Collaborating with Netherlands Professors

Department of Water Resources Engineering (WRE), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) is committed to supporting the university program as a World Class University that is superior and able to play an active role in building the nation.

One of them is by implementing the 3 in 1 program, that is the triple helix program between UB academics, industry represented by competent practitioners in their fields, and international academics.

In this case, the WRE FTUB collaborates with IHE Delft Institute for Water Education The Netherlands and Perum Jasa Tirta 1 (PJT1).

Present online from IHE Delft is an associate professor of Coastal Systems and Engineering & Port Development; Prof. Dano Roelvink, Prof. Rosh Ranasinghe, Assoc. Prof. Mick van der Wegen, and Johan Reyns, MSc.

This annual activity continues even in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic. This program is carried out online for four days; 1, 2, 8, and 9 October 2020.

With the theme of Sustainable Coastal Area and River Basin Management in Indonesia: Past, present, and future, each lecture was held from 13.45-17.30 WIB by utilizing zoom media and VLM2 UB.

This intensive lecture was attended by undergraduate students who focused on coastal engineering research, master and doctoral students, lecturers with a focus on coastal engineering, and lecturers in coastal engineering from the University of Jember.

From the Educational Point of View, this program can improve the competence of participants’ foreign language skills. In addition, participants, especially students, can find out about current issues both in the world of work and research related to Coastal Engineering courses, especially in the process of coastal management.

“Online lectures are very efficient, because we can get lectures from foreign lecturers from anywhere,” said Sebrian, one of the participants who is currently continuing his study in the Netherlands.

This program will continue on October 24, 2020, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Jasa Tirta 1 Public Corporation, and IHE Delft.

This Saturday the activity will be packaged as International Webinar with the theme of Living with Uncertainty, Sustainable Coastal Area and River Basin Management in Indonesia: Past, Present, and Future. (mic)
