FT UB Inaugurates 67 New Engineers

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) once again held an Inauguration of Engineers which took place solemnly at the Prof. Ir. Suryono Auditorium on Friday, 2/97/2025).

This inauguration event was opened and inaugurated by the Chancellor of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc; Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) of East Java, Dr. Ir. Gentur Prihantono, SP., SH., MT., MH., IPU; and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UB, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng.

A total of 67 prospective engineers from the 13th batch of the Prior Learning Recognition Program (RPL) were officially inaugurated on this occasion. Starting the event, the report was delivered by the Dean of FT UB. He explained the number of prospective engineers and their educational backgrounds as well as careers or positions currently held by the prospective engineers.

“From a total of 67 prospective engineers, there is one prospective engineer from the RPL Program batch 12 and the 66 are from the RPL Program Batch 13,” explained Prof. Hadi.

Prof. Hadi also continued that the background of the students who were inaugurated on the day came from 26 Civil Engineering students, 6 Mechanical Engineering students, 8 Electrical Engineering students, 13 Water Engineering students, 2 Architecture students, 1 Urban & Regional Planning students, 4 Industrial Engineering students, 3 Information Technology students, 1 Food Technology students, 2 Geology & Geophysics students and finally 1 Animal Husbandry students.

The inauguration participants came from various professions and institutions such as 18 Academics/Lecturers, 15 BUMN students, 15 private sector students, 1 entrepreneur students and 18 government agencies. So far, UB has inaugurated 869 engineers.

Furthermore, in his speech, the UB Chancellor emphasized the importance of the role of engineers in national development. He said that this inauguration is not only a ceremony, but also a great mandate for engineers to continue to contribute to various industrial and development sectors.

“When compared to the ASEAN region, namely with Vietnam, the number of engineers in Indonesia is still lacking. Especially with Korea and China at the Asian level. Of course, it is a matter of pride for the University to be able to inaugurate new engineers who are expected to contribute to national development,” explained Prof. Widodo.

The Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) Program at FT UB is one of the efforts to support the certification of professional engineers through a pathway that recognizes the work experience and skills that have been possessed by the participants. With this inauguration, it is hoped that the newly inaugurated engineers can play a more active role in the industrial world and contribute to the development of infrastructure and technology in Indonesia.

The inauguration event was closed with a group photo session and a friendly gathering between the newly inaugurated engineers and the invited guests. This moment is an important milestone in the career journey of engineers who are ready to dedicate themselves to the progress of the nation and state.[drn]
