FP Collaborates with Environmental Services and Department of Education and Culture Malang to Hold Waste Recycling Management Workshop

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya (FP UB) in collaboration with the Environmental Service and Department of Education and Culture Malang City held a webinar and workshop entitled “Waste Recycling Management.” This activity also involved the Indonesian Adiwiyata Activists Association (HPAI), which consists of teachers and school principals from state and private educational institutions with the title of Adiwiyata School.

For four days, this activity presented material about composting, eco enzymes, and biowash presented by experts, namely Gabryna Auliya Nugroho, S.P., M.P., M.Sc., Dr. Arie Srihardyastutie, S.Sc., M.Kes., and Dr. Riyanti Isaskar, S.P., M.Sc. The material was delivered via Zoom webinar as well as live workshop sessions at the Ecogreen Recycling Plaza, UB Faculty of Agriculture.

The webinar was attended by students, the general public, and more than 300 participants from all over Indonesia attended online. Meanwhile, the workshop was attended with great enthusiasm, even exceeding the predetermined participant quota.

Dr. Riyanti Isaskar, S.P., M.Si., as the chief organizer of this activity, expressed her appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants. Through this activity, it is hoped that it can increase public awareness and knowledge about the importance of good and correct waste management, as well as encourage wider recycling practices in various circles.

“I am very impressed with the high level of public interest in learning about the waste recycling process. This shows an increasing awareness of the importance of useful waste management, and can even increase income from unused goods,” said Dr. Riyanti.

This activity is also part of a community service grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture, based on a joint scheme involving students. Apart from gaining practical knowledge, students involved in this activity also receive additional credits which can help in completing their studies. (zma/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
