FMIPA UB Holds Alumni National Working Meeting to Strengthen Collaboration and Innovation

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Alumni Association (IKA) on Saturday (18/1/2025) at FMIPA Center Building. This activity aimed at strengthening the relationship between alumni and their alma mater and formulate strategic steps for faculty development.

The Chairperson of IKA FMIPA UB 2024–2027, Yudiono, opened the event by explaining the challenges faced by alumni organizations in the future. The panel discussion forum involved senior alumni to provide strategic insights.

The Dean of FMIPA UB, Ratno Bagus Edy Wibowo, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of the role of alumni as valuable assets. “Collaboration between alumni and alma mater is the key to the success of FMIPA UB. With the spirit of togetherness, we can bring this faculty to achieve national and international achievements,” he said.

Rakernas also presented a discussion themed “How Far Can We Go?”, which discussed the sustainability of IKA FMIPA organization.

UB Rector, Prof. Widodo, who is also an alumnus of Biology FMIPA UB batch of 1992, emphasized the need for mutually beneficial relationships. He encouraged alumni to contribute through startups, research downstreaming, or supporting student interns.

Rakernas also presented a discussion themed “How Far Can We Go?”, which discussed the sustainability of the IKA FMIPA organization. Five senior alumni became speakers, including Ani Budi Astuti (Professor of Statistics) and Faisal Muzakki (Managing Director of PT G4S Indonesia).

The results of the discussion agreed on the importance of the role of alumni as contributors, catalysts, and facilitators. Rakernas also produced strategic programs, such as developing networks for mutually beneficial cooperation, sharing knowledge with students, and joint research that opens up internship opportunities and work experience.

With a roadmap based on 8 Steps of the Kotter Change Model, this Rakernas is expected to be the first step to strengthen the synergy between alumni and alma mater, bringing FMIPA UB towards a brighter future. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
