Universitas Brawijaya (UB) together with five tertiary institutions signed a MoU or Assessment of Cooperation with Persatuan Akutuaris Indonesia (PAI) or The Society of Actuaries of Indonesia, Tuesday (25/1/2023).
Universitas Brawijaya was represented by the Dean of MIPA as well as the Vice Rector for Planning and Collaboration, Prof. Dr. Ir. Moch. Sasmito Djati., MS., IPU., ASEAN Eng, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Nurjannah, S.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship Ratno Bagus Edy Wibowo, S. Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, Dra. Sri Wardhani, M.Sc. Head of Collaboration between BPPM and Syaiful Anam, S.Sc., M.T., Ph.D Lecturer in UB Actuarial Science Study Program.
Prof. Sasmito Djati explained that the scope of cooperation carried out by both parties is the development and improvement of the quality of human resources in the field of Actuarial Science.
One of the benefits obtained from this collaboration is the Equalization of PAI Examination Subjects for students of Actuarial Science Undergraduate Study Program and Students of Mathematics Undergraduate Study Program in the Mathematics Department of UB and for students of Undergraduate Statistics Study Program, Department of Statistics.
There are seven exam subjects that can be equated for the Actuarial Undergraduate Study Program, including: A10 Financial Mathematics, A20 Probability and Statistics, A30 Economics, A40 Accounting, A50 Statistical Methods, A60 Actuarial Mathematics and A70 Risk Theory. The seven exams are a requirement for obtaining the Associate of the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia (ASAI) professional title.
Meanwhile, there is also one equivalent exam subject for the Undergraduate Mathematics Study Program, namely A20 Probability and Statistics and for the Bachelor of Statistics Study Program, there are 2 exams.
“By signing this MoU/PKS with PAI, we hope that the Actuarial Science Undergraduate Program will progress and develop,” he said.
UB’s FMIPA Actuarial Science Study Program has become one of the leading Actuarial Science Study Programs in Indonesia and has made various efforts to increase the competitiveness of graduates through increased collaboration with various parties. One of them is establishing cooperation with Persatuan Aktuaris Indonesia (PAI) / (the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia).
