
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Brawijaya (FKH UB) deploys students at 103 slaughtering points to ensure the health of animals and sacrificial meat in the midst of the Oral and Nail Disease (FMD) epidemic.
The health inspectors are spread throughout East Java including Malang City, Batu, Malang Regency, Mojokerjo Regency, Sidoarjo Regency, Lamongan Regency and Kediri Regency from July 8 to July 11 2022.
This activity is in the context of Integrated Community Service Examination of Animal Health and Sacrificial Meat of FKH UB in the Context of Eid al-Adha 1443 H Year 2022.

Dean of FKH, drh. Dyah Ayu Oktavianie AP., M.Biotech said that the examination of sacrificial animals is an annual routine agenda that is part of the veterinarian’s professional responsibility in ensuring Safe, Healthy, Whole and Halal Slaughter of Sacrificial Animals.
A total of 43 lecturers and 493 students of FKH UB are also involved in the examination of sacrificial animal both in East Java and in their respective domiciles throughout Indonesia under the supervision of the head of the team inspectors of for Animal Health and Sacrificial Meat, drh. Ajeng Erika, M.Si.
One of the examiners, drh. Shelly Kusumarini R., M.Si. said that in the midst of the spread of FMD outbreak in Indonesia, it caused people to be worried about handling sacrificial meat, so that with the presence of FKH UB team in collaboration with related agencies, they could provide socialization and appeal to the community, especially the procedures for processing sacrificial meat.
“If the sacrificial meat, the innards are directly processed, it should be boiled in boiling water for at least 30 minutes, while if the meat is not processed immediately, it can be stored in a chiller for 24 hours and then transferred to the freezer to be stored at a frozen temperature,” he said.
Shelly also hopes that FKH UB Animal Health Checking for Animal Health and Sacrificial Meat can ensure that the sacrificial animals are in good health and ASUH sacrificial meat is for public consumption. (FKH/Humas Ub/ Trans. Iir).
