Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Brawijaya (FKG UB) distributed mini E-Book about various dental health problems and how to maintain dental and oral health to Fatayat NU. The distribution of mini E-Book is to increase understanding of various dental and oral diseases and how to recognize and prevent it.
The mini e-book “Tooth and Oral Health” is expected to be useful for the community in terms of improving dental and oral health as well as opening and enhancing collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry, University, and Fatayat NU.
The activity, which was coordinated by drg Lalita El Milla, M.Si, involved 11 FKG UB lecturers from different fields of expertise, including Periodontics, Orthodontics, Dental Conservation, Prosthodontics, Oral Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Radiology, Oral Diseases, Oral Biology, Materials Science and Public Health.
This education program is motivated by the high number of problems in the field of dentistry, namely the proportion of dental and oral problems is 57.6% and the proportion of correct tooth brushing behavior is 2.8% (Basic Health Research, 2018). This low number becomes the basis for the need of intervention by dentists in improving the dental and oral health problems of the community.
This educational activity is addressed to Fatayat Nu since Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama is an Islamic youth (young women) organization, which main members are women in the productive age who are expected to enforce habits in maintaining oral and dental health for the smallest scope, at least in the family.
Therefore, for several months from July to December, FKG UB plays an active role as health experts and consultants for Fatayat NU members in Malang Regency by holding several training, consultation and education events in several sub-districts of Malang Regency such as Wonosari and Poncokusumo Districts which were attended by the Head of Sub-branch and the Head of Fatayat NU Branch of Malang Regency while still upholding Health protocols.
