Faculty of Medicine Inaugurates 25 New Specialist Doctors

The Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University (FK UB) inaugurated 25 new specialist doctors in the Auditorium on the 6th Floor of FK Building on Thursday (7/3/2024).

A total of 25 specialist doctors had taken the oath, led by the Dean of FK UB, Dr. Dr. Wishnu Barlianto, M.Si.Med, SpA(K).

The specialist doctors consist of three Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy doctors, three Ophthalmology doctors, three Physical and Rehabilitation doctors, six Clinical Pathology doctors, five Obstetrics and Gynecology doctors, three Pediatric Health doctors, one Dermatology, Venereology and Aesthetics doctor as well as one Clinical Microbiology doctor.

In his remarks, the Head of Department of Specialist and Sub-Special Medicine, Dr. Dr. Seskoati Prayitnaningsih, Sp.M(K) advised the new specialist doctors to continue improving services to the community.

He said, quality service is not only determined by science and health technology, but the more important is determined by commendable attitudes and behavior towards patients, the community, colleagues and other health workers.

“Now is the time to apply and dedicate the competencies that have been learned to the people needed,” he said.

He continued, a specialist doctor must prepare himself for any changes well. One of them is by remaining loyal to maintaining the desire for knowledge in order to stimulate the self-learning process to maintain a quality personality.

“The Industrial Revolution requires all of us to be adaptive to changes in health technology and be able to apply it in every line of service,” he continued.

Dean of FK UB, Dr. Dr. Wisnu Barlianto, M.Si.Med, SpA(K) emphasized that the academic abilities of new specialist doctors continue to be developed in accordance with developments in science and technology.

In addition, it is important to pay attention and understand the applicable laws and regulations in order to be safe in carrying out the duties.

“A specialist doctor is obliged to uphold 6 principles, namely the principle of ethics, the principle of respecting patient autonomy, the principle of honesty, the principle of doing no harm, the principle of benefit, the principle of confidentiality and the principle of justice,” he stressed.

This activity was attended by the Director of RSSA Malang, the Director of the Educational Network Hospital, the Vice Deans of FK UB, the Head of Health Service of Malang City and Malang Regency, the Head of the Military District, Head of FK UB Alumni, Professors and Lecturers of FK UB, and the families of the new specialist doctors. .
