In commemoration of Eid al-Adha 1445 H, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB) held the slaughter and handover of sacrificial animals on Tuesday (18/8/2023). A total of five cows and 14 goats were donated by FK and distributed to nearby mosques/prayers as well as several orphanages in Greater Malang.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, Dr. Dr. Wisnu Barlianto, M.Si.Med., Sp.A(K), said that this activity has become an annual routine agenda by inviting children from orphanages, but the difference from previous years is that there is a campus tour for the orphanage children.

“For teaching staff or lecturers who want to make sacrifices so they can share happiness with friends in need,” he said.

This year, FK invited children from the Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage and the KH Mas Mansur Muhammadiyah Orphanage which are located around Universitas Brawijaya and numbered around 30 children.

This event began with a welcome and the slaughter of sacrificial animals, then continued with a tour of the campus.

Chief Executive, Dr. Samsul Arifin, M.Biomed., Sp.M., said that the event was carried out with thorough preparation to anticipate problems from previous years regarding the distribution of sacrificial animals.

“We have tried today so that distribution can be faster. So that the meat that reaches the recipients is fresher, because some of these sacrificial animals are not only in Malang City, but also from outside Malang City, for example from Kepanjen and Karangploso, we arrange the distribution so that those who are far away can get it more quickly, so that priority is given to those far away. So, for example, if the meat is a little less fresh, we can avoid it,” he said.

The event closed by sending the orphanage children home to the orphanage and distributing the sacrificial animals. (DI2/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir).
