Doctor Ayunda and Team Are Providing Reproductive Health Education to Children

The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FK UB) has successfully carried out community service activities as part of the student elective program. This activity is in the form of reproductive health education for elementary school (SD) children through innovative media in the form of educational game boards. Taking place at the Rois Dahlan Mosque, Kertoraharjo Street, this activity took place on Thursday, (5/12/2024).

This program was initiated by FK UB lecturers, namely dr. Ayunda Dewi Jayanti Jilan Putri, M.Sc, dr. Domy Pradana Putra, Sp.OT, and Agwin Fahmi Fahanani, S.T, M.T, along with five 5th semester FK students who are undergoing a two-week elective program. This program is designed to provide innovation-based learning experiences and direct contributions to the community.

Innovation of Universitas Brawijaya’s Students: Educational Game Board for Elementary School Children

This activity is a real manifestation of innovation by Universitas Brawijaya’s students, especially UB Faculty of Medicine student team consisting of Belva Aulia Putri Ayu Rehardini, Jessica Anna Sallvia, Kautsar Hammam Mumtaz, Mikaila Ayleen Tevi Peea, and Syalsabilla Suci Cahyani. They succeeded in creating an educational game board as an interactive, child-friendly learning medium to discuss the topic of reproductive health.

“Many children do not understand the importance of maintaining reproductive health due to the lack of learning media that is appropriate for their age. Through this game board, we want to help children learn in a fun and interactive way,” said Belva Aulia Putri Ayu Rehardini, one of the students who initiated this program.

This game board combines interactive elements such as question cards, step activities, and interesting visualizations that are tailored to the needs of elementary school children. Children are invited to get to know their bodies, understand the function of reproductive organs, and learn to maintain health in a simple but meaningful way.

Elective Program: Realizing Innovation and Real Contribution to Society

This activity is part of FKUB elective program which lasts for two weeks. In this program, students are given the opportunity to learn and innovate through a real problem-based approach in society. This elective program not only aims to improve students’ academic competence but also provides them with direct experience in developing innovative solutions to challenges faced by society.

Ayunda Dewi Jayanti Jilan Putri, M.Sc, as the supervising lecturer, said that this program is a form of community service that also supports the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially in the fields of health and education.

“With this activity, we hope that students will not only learn from the theoretical side, but also understand how to implement their knowledge in the field,” she said

Universitas Brawijaya’s Commitment towards SDGs and IKU

As one of the best universities in Indonesia, Universitas Brawijaya continues to be committed to support the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU), including encouraging experiential learning outside the campus (IKU 2) and community-based collaborative innovation (IKU 7).
