FISIP Initiates Collaboration with University of Leeds

FISIP Universitas Brawijaya is initiating collaboration with the University of Leeds. Both parties carried out potential collaboration which could be carried out on Thursday (30/5/2024) in the meeting room on the 7th floor of C building FISIP UB.

At the initiation of this collaboration, FISIP was represented by the Dean of FISIP, Prof. Anang Sujoko S.Sos., M.Si., D.COMM and several Department leaders. Meanwhile, the University of Leeds was represented by Dr Adam Tyson, Associate Professor of Southeast Asian Politics in the School of Politics and International Studies at the University of Leeds.

In this discussion, Adam Tyson explained that the University of Leeds has several scientific studies included in the Faculty of Social Sciences, namely education, law, politics and international relations and sociology.

Adam explained that from internal discussions at the University of Leeds, they were open to becoming a strategic partner for UB.

“We at the University of Leeds see that UB is improving quickly. The increase in ranking also increased drastically. Of course, because there are positive signals, we hope that we can become a strategic partner that bring benefits both parties,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP, Prof. Anang Sujoko S.Sos., M.Si., D.COMM, explained that his party continues to try to make FISIP a better faculty.

“UB is indeed growing well. Moreover, many of our teachers now take their doctoral degrees abroad. Thank you also for the opportunity given to our teachers who are currently studying at Leeds,” he explained.

Prof. Anang Sujoko explained that the collaboration between FISIP and the University of Leeds could focus on research and education. Several activities that can be carried out include visiting lecturers and research collaborations.

“We hope we can carry out activities first, in collaboration with the University of Leeds. Because we always hope that not only the cooperation document will be formalized but that no activities will be carried out,” he explained.

To carry out this collaboration, FISIP will appoint a person responsible for each study program, especially for carrying out the implementation of the collaboration that will be carried out. (FISIPPR/OKY / UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
