A proud cultural work from alumni of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) is now officially presented to the public. The film “Jejak Sang Timur” which is the result of collaboration between the Alumni Association of Universitas Brawijaya (IKA UB) and the Directorate General for Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (PDTT) has premiered at XXI Jatiland cinema, Ternate.
This film is real proof that UB alumni are not only successful in various fields, but are also able to contribute to the world of film. Through this work, IKA UB hopes that more talents and potential of UB alumni will emerge and work wholeheartedly in the creative fields and other industries.
Directed by Fajaria Menur Widowati, a 2019 FISIP UB Masters alumnus, and produced and written by Kirana Kejora, a 1989 FPIK UB alumnus, “Jejak Sang Timur” presents a story that inspires the spirit of building the country. This film also stars famous actors and actresses, such as Laras Sardi, Kevin Abani, and Zidane Azhar, with most of the film crew also coming from UB alumni.
Interestingly, this film also displays the visual beauty typical of the Eastern Indonesia region, which strengthens the message of development and regional potential. The film’s theme song, “Sula Sang Timur”, was specially composed by Trie Utami and Redy Eko Prastyo, adding an exotic nuance to every scene.
Not only showing in theaters, the film “Jejak Sang Timur” can now also be enjoyed by the wider community through the Telkomsel Maxstream OTT platform. With more and more viewers being able to access this film, great hopes arise that the message of building the country carried in this film can be spread widely.
On September 12, 2024 (Starting at 11-13 WIB) IKA UB together with Universitas Brawijaya and Kemendesa PDTT will hold a joint watching event (nobar) with artists, film crews, UB alumni, and UB academics. This event will take place at Universitas Brawijaya Auditorium. In the afternoon, nobar will be held again at Mopic Cinema Malang for the community of writers, artists, students, and university students.
Hopefully “Jejak Sang Timur” can provide a new atmosphere in cultural literacy, and bring fresh air to the development of the Indonesian film world. (UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
