The Algorithm Auditorium is one of the best facilities owned by the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB), and is also one of the landmarks or proud icons of FILKOM UB.
Inaugurated by the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani AR., MS., on March 17, 2021. Strategically located in Building G FILKOM UB, second floor. With a modern design that combines elements of technology, futuristic and comfort. Various positive praise from various internal and external parties, even called the best auditorium in UB. With adequate facilities, the Algorithm Auditorium is the main choice for various academic and non-academic activities on campus.
The naming of the Algorithm Auditorium comes from the dean of FILKOM UB, Prof. Ir. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D. He explained the background of choosing the name Algorithm Auditorium for FILKOM UB icon, the meaning of the word Algorithm itself is an instruction or systematic steps used to solve a particular problem or task.
“We want to give a simple, easy-to-remember name, as soon as the name Algorithm Auditorium is mentioned, then everyone knows that this building is only in FILKOM, not anywhere else,” explained Prof. Wayan.
As a silent witness to local, national and international activities, the Algorithm Auditorium has become a venue for various seminars, conferences, workshops, and symposiums. Several activities such as guest lectures involving experts from within the country and abroad, national and international training have been carried out in the Algorithm Auditorium, transfer of knowledge and technological innovation from lecturers, experts or practitioners to students or participants. Algorithm Auditorium ensures participant comfort with special features, one of its superior features is a videotron with dimensions of 6.6 meters long and 3.7 meters high, a high-quality sound system and lighting that can be adjusted to the type of event. Algorithm Auditorium has a total area of 522 m², with a stable internet connection and an effective air conditioning system that also maintains a comfortable room temperature. Capable of accommodating a capacity of more than 300 seats and 500 without seats, making it as one of the largest multi-purpose rooms in UB.
Events such as graduations, guest lectures, institutional visits, socialization, and student organization meetings have been held in Algorithm Auditorium. The existence of Algorithm Auditorium as a representation of FILKOM also provides added value to Universitas Brawijaya as a whole. Affirming the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality educational facilities. This reflects FILKOM UB’s vision to continue to innovate and develop, even though it is a young faculty, FILKOM already has high-quality infrastructure, making it an example of achievement for other educational institutions.
