The Lecturer Team from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) carried out community service at DIPA 2023. The team consisted of four lecturers, namely Bondan Sapta Prakoso, S.T., M.Kom; Intan Sartika Eris Maghfiroh, S.E., M.B.A.; Riswan Septriayadi Sianturi, S.Sc., M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Almira Syawli, S.Kom., M.Kom. and assisted by two students from the Information Systems Study Program, conducted training for PAUD teachers on the use of Microsoft Office to support the strengthening of educational services at the POS PAUD Kasih Sayang institution.
This activity was carried out in accordance with the needs of Kasih Sayang Preschool teachers who had previously carried out observations and interviews. This collaboration between the FILKOM lecturer team and POS PAUD Kasih Sayang is an example of how Microsoft Office training can contribute to school teachers. By providing knowledge, FILKOM lecturer team can also help increase awareness of the importance of technological literacy in the current era.
The training was carried out on Monday (11/9/2023) at POS PAUD Kasih Sayang Preschool. The training material for this activity is divided into three, namely Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.
The activity began with remarks from Bondan Sapta Prakoso, S.T., M.Kom. as the representative of the 2023 DIPA lecturer service team and Siti Rodiyah as the principal of POS PAUD Kasih Sayang. Then the next event is the distribution of pre-tests for teachers in order to find out the extent of knowledge or experience gained before participating in this training. Next for the first session is an explanation of the first material by Bondan Sapta Prakoso, S.T., M.Kom. which explains the Microsoft Word application, namely a basic introduction to existing tools such as the Home tab, Insert tab and Layout tab to its implementation which is directly guided by the presenter assisted by students.
The second session contained an explanation of the material by Riswan Septriayadi Sianturi, S.Sc., M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. which explains Microsoft Excel training regarding a basic introduction to the tools in Microsoft Excel. The school teachers followed the instructions from the presenters seriously, because in this second session the school teachers also implemented data processing which could be used as direction for creating student learning outcomes reports. Furthermore, in this second session, the presenters also shared the correct procedures for using shortcuts to make it easier and more efficient to use Microsoft Excel.
The third session contained material explanations by Intan Sartika Eris Maghfiroh, S.E. which explains Microsoft Powerpoint training. Just like the previous sessions, this third session also explains a basic introduction to the tools in Microsoft Powerpoint to help teachers design learning media that is more interesting for students. The final session closed with the teachers completing a post-test to measure the understanding they received after this training. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test activities, it can be concluded that school teachers can receive and absorb the results of this training activity well. In addition to material sessions delivered, the service team also provides training modules that can be used in daily activities if there are difficulties in using Microsoft Office.
