FILKOM Participates in the Cooperation Program of ASEAN IVO 2022 at the UTM

The Faculty of Computer Science (FILKOM), Universitas Brawijaya participated in the ASEAN IVO in 2022. The special thing is FILKOM UB was chosen as the representative of Indonesian team in joint research with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), University of Glasgow Singapore (UGS), Universiti Technology Brunei (UTB), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).

The research entitled “An IoT-based Data Collection and Analytics Framework using Bluetooth Proximity Beacons” offers service improvements in the form of providing an estimated arrival time (ETA) on public bus transportation services.

The joint research started with an initial discussion at the kick-off meeting held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru on June 15, 2022. Representatives that attended offline from FILKOM UB were Aditya Bhawiyuga, S.Kom., M.Sc., and Eko Setiawan, S.T., M.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. as well as Achmad Basuki, S.T., M.MG., Ph.D and Agung Setia Budi, S.T., M.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. that was attend online. The meeting discussed research plans and implementation of research at public transportation test locations in Johor Bahru, Malaysia and Malang, Indonesia.

The discussion at the kick-off meeting also presenting the representatives from NICT, Japan and representatives from public transportation company PAJ, Malaysia. At this first meeting, it was discussed about the implementation of bus movement tracking devices at PAJ Malaysia, implementation plans in Malang City school buses, making applications for users, processing raw data from sensors to generating estimated arrival times using machine learning.
