Students of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) have made proud achievements at the National Industrial Robotic Competition (NIRC) 2025. NIRC 2025 is an industrial robotics innovation competition that integrates academic excellence, technology, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The theme this year is “Empowering Innovation, Driving the Future of Industrial Robotics”, this competition is also a place to show off creativity and technological excellence that is relevant to the challenges of modern industry, while contributing to the development of technology in Indonesia. The competition in the field of industrial robotics that challenges participants to design, build, and control the Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm (SCARA) industrial robot aims to bridge the gap between the academic world and industry and provide practical experience for students in facing challenges in the industrial era 4.0.

The competition lasted for five days (17/2-21/2/2025), at Padang State University. FILKOM UB was represented by a team that was a member of UB BRONE mascot developer in the form of a humanoid robot. In this competition, the BRONE team won the 3rd place Best Performance Team award at the Grand Final stage. The team consisting of Made Wisnu Widana and Firman Fitrah Ramadhan, managed to pass the selection stage which was held online, followed by the Final stage and the grand final stage. The achievements achieved by the BRONE team had to go through competition with 34 teams from 20 Indonesian Universities.
Dr. Eng. Gembong Edhi Setyawan, S.T., M.T., as the BRONE team supervisor appreciated Made and Firman’s struggle at NIRC 2025. Dr. Gembong hopes that they will continue to develop their skills and innovations in the field of robotics.
“Congratulations to the BRONE UB team represented by Made and Firman, hopefully this can be an inspiration for other students to excel. FILKOM students are able to compete at national and international levels and are expected to be able to provide real contributions in the development of robots at UB, especially currently developing the humanoid robot BRONE as UB’s mascot,” said Dr. Gembong.
