The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB), held a guest lecture webinar with the theme ‘Smart Strategies to Pass Masters Education to Doctorate for Excellent Graduates (PMDSU) Batch VIII of 2024’, Sunday (7/14/2024), via Google Meet. PMDSU is one of the scholarship programs organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia. This program aims to accelerate the education process for outstanding students so that they can complete their master’s (S2) and doctoral (S3) programs in a relatively short time.
The event, hosted by Tibyani, S.T., M.T as the moderator, presented Dr. Diva Kurnianingtyas, S.Kom. (PMDSU Batch III Alumni) and Dr. Kiki Gustinasari, S.T. (PMDSU Batch III Alumni).
“Through PMDSU, the opportunity to get high-quality education is very open and moreover, the education expenditure is entirely borne by the Indonesian government,” said Kiki.
Some tips or strategies given by the two speakers include, first, by preparing complete and accurate files. Complete transcripts from the Undergraduate level are complete. Second, there is a letter of recommendation from a lecturer or supervisor who knows the applicant well and can provide a positive assessment of the applicant’s abilities and potential. Third, applicants must pay attention to the requirements and deadlines that apply to PMDSU.
Diva added that the advantage of obtaining PMDSU for applicants for their future in networking and collaboration is being able to build professional networks with academics and other researchers, both at home and abroad. This opens up opportunities for collaboration and improves the quality of research.
The event, which lasted for 120 minutes, went very smoothly, with positive responses and enthusiasm with the many questions asked by participants in the question and answer session. (rr/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
