FILKOM and FIF Group Realize Academic-Industry Synergy

The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) successfully held a Sharing Session and Campus Hiring activity in collaboration with PT Federal International Finance (FIFGroup) Member of ASTRA on Tuesday (3/12/2024), located at the Algorithm Auditorium, G building. This activity is a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) in the 2024 Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) which is designed to bridge the academic and industrial worlds. With an innovative concept, this event opens up opportunities for students to work directly after the trial, also providing direct learning experiences from FIF Group practitioners at once. A total of 184 final year students attended this event, 80% of them were FILKOM UB students. The Sharing Session presented industry practitioners, Ayu Ananda Astriana as Head of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Data Mining Department FIF Group. This opportunity is also a valuable moment for participants to gain insight into the real world of work. In this session, Ayu explained the needs of the industry in the era of digital transformation, including big data, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and process automation.

In addition, participants also had the opportunity to undergo a direct recruitment process that included psychological tests and interviews with the FIFGroup HR team. This session provided a real opportunity to enter the open recruitment stage of employees. As a result, 60% of participants successfully passed to the next recruitment stage which brought them closer to the world of work. Edita Rosana Widasari, S.T., M.T., M.Eng., Ph.D as the head of the activity, said that by holding this activity, FILKOM became the first bridge for fresh graduates to gain direct knowledge from industry practitioners.

“This activity not only supports students to understand the expectations of the world of work, but also provides direct opportunities to join leading companies such as FIFGroup Member of Astra. This is real evidence of FILKOM UB’s commitment in supporting Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 1, which is to increase the number of graduates who are directly absorbed in the world of work,” said Edita.

This strategic collaboration with FIFGroup shows FILKOM UB’s progress in providing education that is relevant to the needs of the business world and industry (DUDI). This activity also emphasizes the development of soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills, which are very important for a career in the modern era.
