FILKOM Class Collaboration: Exploring the Potential of AI in Various Field of Science

The Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) held a guest lecture entitled “Collaboration Class – FILKOM UB Adjunct Professor Activity” on Tuesday (11/26/2024). The activity was attended by students from various study programs and took place in FILKOM learning room. The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eng. Herman Tolle, S.T., M.T. enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the delegation from University Malaya.

“The importance of collaboration between FILKOM and University Malaya to enrich the academic insights of students and encourage the exchange of knowledge and research between leading universities,” he said.

This guest lecture presented experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including: Assoc. Prof. Suraya Hamid., Assoc. Prof. Norjihan Abdul Ghani and Assoc. Prof. Azah Anir Norman. He provided in-depth insights into the integration of AI into various disciplines and technologies that are rapidly developing.

“AI can be used to address increasingly complex cyber security challenges, AI also has great potential in detecting and responding to cyber threats more quickly and efficiently. AI can be used to improve security through techniques such as big data analysis and machine learning. There are many concrete examples of how AI has been successfully used to detect phishing and ransomware attacks more accurately,” explained Prof. Azah.

On the same occasion, Prof. Suraya provided insights into good Research Methodology, various research methodology approaches that can be used in various disciplines. He explained the importance of choosing the right methodology to ensure the validity and reliability of research results.

This activity not only provides theoretical insights at the undergraduate level but also practical and useful for master students. In the master class, participants were given the opportunity to discuss and ask questions directly to Prof. Norjihan who collaborated with Dr. Herman about various aspects of research methodology. At the end of the event, the delegation from the Philippines expressed the deep interest in establishing collaborative research in creating real solutions to technological problems, especially in the Information Technology sector, faced by students today.
