Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a celebration for the establishment of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Friday (01/04/2022). The activity, which was held at the Nursing Building of UB Campus II, was attended by the Rector and all staff, the Dean of FIKES and his staff, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and staff, the Director of UB Hospital, as well as the previous leaders of the Department of Nursing and Nutrition.
The Dean of FIKES, Prof. Dian Handayani, S.KM., M.Kes, Ph.D said that this activity is a form of gratitude for the Faculty of Health Sciences which was established on December 28, 2021.
“The Department of Nursing and Nutrition has existed since 1997, and thanks to the support of the previous leaders, as well as the ranks of FK leadership, including Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Malang, now FIKES has been ratified,” she said.
She reported that currently FIKES oversees two departments, namely Nursing and Nutrition. FIKES has 73 lecturers, which two of them have professorship titles, and 20 have doctoral degrees. There are five study programs under FIKES, which four study programs have been accredited as excellent, and one study program is accredited very well.
“Currently we are preparing the Master of Nutrition Science study program and two specialists in the field of Nursing, as well as plans to open a Doctor of Nursing program. And in 2023, we will prepare to get international recognition. We ask for your blessing so that we can follow the achievements of our predecessor faculty, “said Prof. Dian.
In his speech, UB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Nuhfil Hanani, AR., M.S said, FIKES has extraordinary potential because its graduates are very much needed by the community.
“I hope that FIKES will not only be able to compete at the national level but also at the international level. Considering that UB is in the order of 601+ in the world and third nationally for the ranking of THE WUR 2022 by Subject: Clinical and Health,” explained the Rector.
He also hopes that FIKES academic community will keep compact so that they can build FIKES together.
This activity was coupled with the signing of the inscription of the groundwork laying for the construction of FIKES and Nursing buildings, as well as giving souvenirs to former deans and leaders of the Department of Nursing and Nutrition. [Irene/ Humas UB/ Trans. Iir]
