FIKES Establishes Collaboration with UPLB for Curriculum Development

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FIKES UB) visited the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Philippines to strengthen cooperation between UB and UPLB, with the main agenda including the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) related to the student exchange program between UB and UPLB, discussion of joint curriculum development; discussion of the Implementation Agreement (IA) as a follow-up step for the implementation of the cooperation.

The activity carried out on (3/10-4/10/2024) was attended by UB delegation consisting of the Head of the Nutritional Science Master’s Program, Dr. Nia Novita Wirawan, Head of the Nutrition Department Dr. Nurul Muslihah, and the Nutrition Master’s Study Program Monitoring and Evaluation Team, Widya Rahmawati, Ph.D.

“Both institutions agreed to strengthen collaboration in the fields of education, community service, research, and scientific publications. In addition, it was also agreed to hold a joint seminar between the Nutrition Department of FIKES UB and the College of Human Ecology, UPLB,” said Widya Rahmawati.

The main focus of the educational collaboration is the development of the curriculum under the Nutrition Department of FIKES UB (Undergraduate of Nutrition, Master of Nutrition, and Dietitian Profession), which will be synergized with study programs at the College of Human Ecology, UPLB. These programs include Bachelor of Nutrition, Master of Science in Applied Nutrition, Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition, and Master of Professional Studies in Food and Nutrition Planning. This collaboration also includes a visiting professor/foreign lecturer program as well as lecturer and student exchanges.

As a step in implementing the collaboration, the two institutions will hold virtual meetings periodically to discuss the development and follow-up of the agreements that have been reached.

Several important results obtained from this activity were the signing of the extension of the MOU and MOA between UB and UPLB, as well as the preparation of an implementation plan for long-term collaboration in the field of the tri dharma of higher education. (*/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
