Faculty of Cultural Studies University of Brawijaya’s (FCS-UB) Japanese Team has achieved a Champion of 15th Kanji Cup for National Level. A team from FCS UB got the first winner in both categories are Amaliya Akhsani from Japanese Literature Study Program (2016) grabbed 1st winner Shokyu Level or Basic Level (individual) and Fahmi Nahindri and Robertus Yulianto from Japanese Literature Study Program (2014). Fahmi dan Robertus grabbed Before the competition, FCS-UB held a selection followed by the students from Japanese Literature Study Program and Japanese Language Education Study Program. At the final selection, two students were taken from both study programs. They were then given a one-moth special training 90 minutes per meeting. There were four instructors: Santi Andayani, M.A. and Retno Dewi Ambarastuti, M.Si for the basic level, Ni Made Savitri Paramita, M.A., and Winda Ika Tyaningrum, M.A. for intermediate level. The PIC of this training is Efrizal, M.A. After receiving special training, the students did the simulation of Kanji Cup, so they had enough provision to compete at the event.
“Hopefully, by means of this Kanji Cup, the students of Japanese Literature Study Program and Japanese Language Education Study Program can learn kanji in a more fun way so that they are able to like and be more enthusiastic about participating in Kanji Cup competition, also maintaining the first champion for all levels, considering that Kanji Cup is rotating trophy, and FCS-UB has defended the trophy since 2009 (either 1stchampion or 2nd champion),” said Santi Andayani, M.A. as the coordinator and instructor of FCS-UB students in joining 15th Kanji Cup participants.
15th Kanji Cup located in Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UNTAG) Surabaya, was held by Japan Foundation on March 5, 2017. The participants of 15th Kanji Cup were all universities in Indonesia, which have Japanese Program or courses, such as from UPI, UGM, Unnes, Unitomo, Unair, Untag, Universitas Saraswati, Unesa, UB, and so on.
