This visit is a response to FCS UB’s visit last December 2022 and is the second visit of HASS UQ to FCS UB since 2019. The purpose of this visit is to extend the collaboration between HASS UQ and FCS UB that has been established since 2019.
There were three main sessions during this visit. The welcoming ceremony was held in the Meeting Room of Building A FCS UB. Moving to next session, the meeting proceeded to the guest lecture and info session in the Hall of Building B FCS UB. The last session was the signing of the extension of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) document by both parties.
“Another goal of this meeting is to strengthen relations between UB and UQ and to further develop our study programmes by accommodating more international collaborations,” explained Hamamah, Ph.D., Dean of FCS UB.
The previous collaboration between HASS UQ and FCS UB was Double-Degree Programme and inviting UQ lecturers to teach in the Study Programme of English Literature FCS UB.
“With our extended collaboration with UQ, we hope that we can expand this collaboration to also cover other study programmes at FCS UB, such as in the fields of arts and education,” she added.
Another thing that is expected from this collaboration is to improve the lecturer’s quality to reach a more competitive level with English language training programme. This activity is also expected to encourage FCS UB students to study abroad, as well as to increase off-campus student activity programmes, such as summer camps and community service activities.
In the second event, the guest lecturer, Prof. Heather Zwicker presented the topic of “Women in Leadership: My Story” in which she explained six steps to be a good woman leader. The guest lecture ended with a question-and-answer session.
After the guest lecture, Majella Ferguson held Info Session of Studying at UQ, to introduce in-depth information about what prospective students need and the benefits provided for the students who wish to study at UQ.
