Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB) together with the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) held the International Conference & Colloquium 2024. The event, which was held on (20/10-22/10/2024), raised an important theme: Human Rights and the Rule of Law, attended by academics and legal practitioners from various countries.
This conference was initiated by the Law Doctoral Study Program, Study Program Outside the Main Campus (DIH PSDKU) in Jakarta. This study program is one of the study programs of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya which is located at UB Jakarta Campus. This activity is expected to contribute a major role in uniting cross-country thinking regarding challenges and opportunities in the field of law and Human Rights. This initiative from DIH FH UB PSDKU Jakarta aims to strengthen academic networks and improve the quality of international scientific discussions in the field of law.
This conference presents prominent speakers from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and China, who discuss current issues in the fields of human rights, constitution, legal reform, and legal sustainability. This event is a place for scientific discussion and cross-country collaboration attended by selected presenters.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of FH UB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aan Eko Widiarto, S.H., M.Hum, said that this event is an important momentum to exchange ideas on human rights issues.
“This conference is an important momentum for academics and legal practitioners to discuss and exchange ideas on human rights issues and the supremacy of law amidst increasingly complex global dynamics,” he said.
He also added that the collaboration between FH UB and UKM in this event is one of the real forms of efforts to strengthen international networks in the field of law.
“This collaboration not only discusses fundamental issues about human rights, but also opens up opportunities for further cooperation between the two institutions. We hope that the results of this conference can provide real contributions to the development of law at the global level,” he added.
This activity was also marked by an exchange of souvenirs between FH UB and UKM which symbolized the close international collaboration between the two institutions. Moreover, the speakers also gave presentations on various sub-topics, such as Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Criminal Law Reform, to Investment and Private Law, which were the main focus of the discussion.
With this conference, it is expected to form a stronger network of cooperation between academics and legal practitioners, and produce concrete solutions related to legal and human rights challenges in the era of globalization. (rma/ FH PR/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
