Timor Leste – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Dili, Timor Leste held an Education Exhibition. This exhibition took place at the Indonesian Cultural Center (PBI) Building in Dili City. Titled Indonesia Higher Education Expo 2024 (IHEE 2024), this exhibition invited universities in Indonesia to participate and open booths. IHEE 2024 was held for three days starting from Thursday (24/10/2024) to Saturday (26/10/2024). This year’s Education Exhibition is the seventh year of its implementation.
IHEE 2024 was attended by 60 universities from Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. Judging from the participant statistics, as many as 29% of universities come from outside Java, so the reach of participants is wider.
Education and Culture Attaché (Atdikbud) of Dili, Timor Leste, Ikhfan Haris, who opened the event said that IHEE 2024 was the IHEE with the most participants since it was first held.
“This year, there are actually more than 60 universities that have expressed their desire to participate, but due to limited space, we can only accept 60 universities to participate. So we have to use the entire floor in the PBI Building to accommodate all participants,” he said.
The Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB), as one of the leading faculties in Indonesia, participated in IHEE 2024. Through the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), FH UB targets many prospective foreign students to join, one of which is prospective students from Timor Leste.
This is in accordance with one of FH UB’s missions, namely organizing international standard Higher Law Education that produces graduates who believe in and fear of God Almighty, and have noble morals and character, are independent, professional, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.
At the IHEE 2024 event, FH sent three lecturers to do the promotion. One of them is the Head of the Undergraduate of Legal Studies Study Program (KPS SIH) Rika Kurniaty S.H., M.A., Ph.D. On the sidelines of the event, Rika Kurniaty also donated several books in the field of Law and several Journals to the Dili Timor Leste Education and Culture Attaché.
On the first day of IHEE 2024, data collection was carried out on visitors who came and were interested in studying at FHUB. At least 174 people have filled out the form and expressed interest in getting more information regarding the IUP program at FH UB.
It is hoped that with IHEE 2024, it can further strengthen the strength of peace, mutual understanding, and bridge the relationship between Indonesia and Timor Leste towards a better direction.
