FBD Socializes the Utilization of Organic Waste at Kidangbang Village, Malang Regency

Cultivating the spirit of Kidangbang residents in managing waste is one of the important things that must be done by students of group 12 FISIP-FIB Berbakti Desa (FBD) Universitas Brawijaya.

Group 12 provided socialization as well as practice in managing organic waste by inviting an Agriculture lecturer, namely Nina Dwi Lestari, S.P., M. Ling in the hall of Nurul Qomar Mosque which was attended by village officials, the Kita Pemuda Community, Mosque Youth and residents of Kidangbang Village.

The holding of this socialization was strongly supported by the Kita Pemuda Community in Kidangbang Village.

“It’s very interesting, because there is direct practice while previously residents were only given theory and could not be understood if it was only theory,” said Muhammad Zuhri as the representative of Kita Pemuda Community.

In addition, the socialization of organic waste utilization increased the enthusiasm of the participants who attended it, this can be seen from the many questions raised by participants during the presentation of material and practices for processing organic waste.

“What types of waste can be put into biopore holes and how long does the process take?” asked Muhammad Tohari, modin of Kidangberik Hamlet.

One of the residents gave a positive response to the socialization that was held.

“This event is very useful because the average resident in Kidangbang works as a farmer! And now the price of fertilizer is also expensive, if you can make your own fertilizer, it’s better to just make it yourself,” said Misman, a resident of Kidangberik.

Through the survey that has been distributed, data was obtained that this socialization provides very useful information to the community in managing organic waste and residents are motivated to manage waste independently. [UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
