In an effort to shape the younger generation towards a better Indonesia in the future, FISIP-FIB Berbakti Desa Universitas Brawijaya (FBD UB) Group 80 students who serve in Wonoagung Village, Tirtoyudo District, Malang Regency held a work program “Moral and Ethical Education in the Context of Sexuality” for students of SMP YBPK 1 Tirtoyudo.
Group 80 in this event collaborated with SMP YBPK 1 Tirtoyudo School in various coordinations aimed at preparing for this work program.
The work program was attended enthusiastically by all students of SMP YBPK 1 Tirtoyudo from grades 7 to 9. The students who attended not only paid attention to the material, but were also active as participants by interacting with the speakers or asking questions.
Participants in this work program were selected as an intervention effort from Group 80 FBD UB in forming morals and ethics that are in accordance with the values, norms and culture that are the identity of the nation.
“The hope is that the work program implemented can become one of the Group 80’s efforts to educate students here about sexuality so that with an understanding of puberty, sexual harassment, and how we should behave towards various things related to the context of sexuality,” said the person in charge of the Moral and Ethics Education Work Program in the Context of Sexuality, Tjia Yohannes William.
“They (students) are able to carry out what they understand according to moral and ethical views, not just what is taught without understanding. In addition, there is also the hope that the ranks of teachers and students here are able to reprimand if there are deviations that occur in this school,” continued Tjia.
Group 80 FDB UB itself through this work program is trying to respond to the rampant cases of sexual harassment in various forms, both physical and non-physical. Participants were also selected with consideration of age where participants are just entering the early adolescent development period which is a transition from childhood which of course is also the early age of puberty so that education in this sexual context is very necessary.
Of course, the school also welcomed the idea of this work program with enthusiasm. Even collaboration with the school did not stop after the work program was implemented. However, the school directly followed up and monitored the material that had been delivered regarding ethics and morals that should be reflected in the actions of YBPK 1 Tirtoyudo Middle School students as active participants in the work program.
With activities carried out in two sessions, namely the material session and the question and answer session in the form of a discussion, Group 80 FBD UB has conveyed its commitment to devotion in concrete actions of human development which will ultimately make those who are ethical and moral become complete human beings not only in physical form but also in dignity.
