Malang, February 3, 2025 – The Faculty of Animal Science at Brawijaya University (Fapet UB) held its opening meeting for the Even Semester of the 2024/2025 academic year on Monday (3/2/2025). The Dean of Fapet UB, Prof. Halim, opened the event by presenting the achievement of the Community Satisfaction Index (IKM), which surged from a C to an A rating with a score of 3.67. This improvement is attributed to the launch of an Integrated Service Unit, which is integrated with the Faculty of Animal Science Information System (SIFAPET) and the Academic Concentration and Final Project Information System (SIMITA). These two digital platforms are considered capable of enhancing transparency and efficiency in academic services.
Prof. Halim also announced the issuance of a Decree (SK) for a new study program, Smart Animal Husbandry Industry, from the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti). This program, approved on January 17, 2025, with the SK dated December 11, 2024, is designed to address the needs of the livestock industry through technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). “This program will pioneer animal science education by integrating advanced technology for optimizing production and livestock management,” said Prof. Halim.
Prof. Halim emphasized that the innovations and achievements announced today are serious steps by Fapet UB to prepare competitive graduates in an era of rapid technological advancements and widespread AI applications. “We remain committed to being a pioneer in technology-based animal science education in Indonesia,” he concluded.
The presentation was continued by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Rizky Prafitri, Ph.D., who explained that SIMITA and SIFAPET have brought significant transformation to the learning mechanism. Students can now access academic concentration services, academic advising, and final project submissions digitally without bureaucratic obstacles. On the other hand, the Vice Dean for Financial Affairs, Dr. Agus Susilo, highlighted the success of implementing the Integrity Zone (ZI) over the past year. According to him, this system has strengthened budget management accountability and prevented potential irregularities.
In the student affairs session, Vice Dean Dr. Eko Widodo expressed pride in the achievement of the Fapet UB Futsal Team, which secured second place at the national level. “This proves that our students excel not only academically but also in non-academic competitions,” he stated. The event concluded with free health check-ups provided by the UB Clinic for all faculty members and staff, demonstrating the faculty’s commitment to the well-being of its campus community. mtn
