Fapet UB dan BPTU HPT Sembawa Implement the Independent Learning Program

Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) collaborates with the Center for Superior Animal Breeding and Forage (BPTU HPT) Sembawa, South Sumatra. The agreement letter was signed by Prof. Suyadi (Dean) and Bagong Kusminandar, S.Pt (Head of the BPTU – HPT Sembawa Hall), Tuesday (22/1 2/2020).
The contents of the agreement that will be carried out for four years are about the implementation of practical activities, field work practices, apprenticeships and certified apprenticeships. This activity is one of the forms of Independent Learning, Independent Campus (MBKM- Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka) program which was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
The purpose of implementing MBKM for Higher Education is that students can develop their potential or talents widely. Potential development is carried out by providing flexibility or opportunities for students to take courses outside of the study program being taught. Or field work practices in industrialized world for a certain period.
Since in the MBKM guidebook of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture 2020 stated that so far students have had less work experience in the real industry / professional world, causing less readiness in the world of work. Meanwhile, short-term internships (less than six months) are not sufficient to provide students with industry experience and competence. Companies that accept internships also say that short-term internships are useless, and even disrupt activities in the Industry.
“We hope that this collaboration can encourage students to master various disciplines as a provision to enter the world of work later.” said Suyadi
BPTU-HPT Sembawa is an institution that has the task of carrying out the maintenance, production, breeding, development, distribution and distribution of superior livestock seeds, as well as production and distribution of forage seeds / seedlings. (dta / Humas UB/ Trans. Iir)
