A team from the Vocational Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), especially from the Department of Business and Hospitality, conducted a working visit to Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia, in the context of implementing the Lecturer Works (Dokar) Program in 2024. The activity, which took place on (8/10/2024), took place in the Block A Meeting Room, Gardens Point Campus, George Street, Brisbane.
Led by Fitriana Rakhma Dhanias, SE., MSA., Ak., as the Chief Executive, the team also consisted of two other members, namely Lintang Edityastono, S.AB., M.AB., and Azna Abrory Wardana, S.H., M.H. This visit aims to strengthen academic collaboration between the Vocational Faculty UB and QUT, especially in developing a curriculum that is responsive to the dynamics of the financial and business industries. In addition, the main objective of this activity is to support the internationalization efforts of UB Vocational Faculty, with the hope of increasing the global competitiveness of graduates and institutions.
Discussions during the visit covered various aspects, ranging from the development of a curriculum based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) to the application of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) concept in the learning process. The TEFA concept itself is designed to provide practical experience for students by combining theory and practice in an industrial environment, which is expected to improve the skills and work readiness of graduates.
In addition to discussing curriculum development, this meeting also aims to open up opportunities for collaboration in other fields, such as joint research, student exchange programs, and cross-country training. This discussion focused on increasing the internationalization of UB Vocational Faculty through stronger international cooperation with QUT, so that it can help UB achieve global standards in vocational education. By expanding the international cooperation network, the UB Vocational Faculty is expected to provide a richer and more relevant learning experience for its students.
In addition, other agendas discussed included plans for student exchanges and opportunities for collaboration in research, which can help both institutions improve their global reputations. QUT, as a university renowned for its excellent programs in economics and business, welcomes this collaborative initiative as a concrete step to strengthen international relations between institutions.
This strategic collaboration is expected to not only improve the quality of graduates, but also contribute to improving the professionalism of lecturers through participation in joint research and international training programs. Thus, the Vocational Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya is expected to further strengthen its position as one of the best vocational education institutions in Indonesia, which is competitive at the international level.
