
The Vocational Faculty together with the Indonesian Vocational College Forum held the Grand Launching of OLIVIA X 2025. The activity was carried out in a hybrid manner at the Vocational Faculty Building and online via Zoom Meeting (17/4/2025).
The Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) itself is an annual competition specifically designed for students of vocational education programs in Indonesia. This event aims to sharpen students’ practical abilities and skills, while inspiring innovation and creativity in various technical and non-technical fields. This activity was attended by the General Chairperson of FPTVI, Deans of Vocational Schools/Vocational Schools throughout Indonesia, Directors of Polytechnics throughout Indonesia and academics from 148 Universities/Polytechnics throughout Indonesia.

The activity was opened by the Dean of the Vocational Faculty and Deputy Chairperson 1 of FTPVI, Mukhammad Kholid Mawardi, S.Sos., M.A.B., Ph.D.
The Dean expressed his gratitude for the presence of all participants in the grand launching of OLIVIA X. He also expressed his deep gratitude to the committee who had prepared OLIVIA.
“With the theme “Unlocking the Wonders of Tomorrow: Bridging Innovation and Sustainability”, it is hoped that students can create innovative ideas that not only advance the industrial world, but are also sustainable. The Dean hopes that through OLIVIA, students can develop ideas that have a positive impact in the future,” he said.
Another speech was given by the General Chairperson of FPTVI, Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Restu, MP.
He hopes that OLIVIA can be a place to encourage innovation among vocational students so that superior talents are found who are able to compete well at the national level and then become representatives for the international arena later.
“This year’s OLIVIA also feels different because there are many new competition branches, besides because it is held in Malang City. As we know, Malang City is one of the cities that has many tourist attractions so that participants are very enthusiastic to take part in OLIVIA X at Universitas Brawijaya later,” added the General Chairperson of FPTVI who also serves as Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Hasanuddin University.
In addition to the competition, OLIVIA X will also have an international seminar and expo that showcases the work of the finalist teams, students, lecturers, and partners from the industrial world. This is a form of real implementation of the collaboration between Vocational Education and Industrial institutions so that there is a connection between the industrial world and Higher Education, especially Vocational Education.
Meanwhile, OLIVIA X 2025 carries the theme “Unlocking the Wonders of Tomorrow: Bridging Innovation and Sustainability” and has various competition branches and sub-branches, including the Information Technology branch which has 3 sub-categories, namely Web Technology Competition, Smart Systems (IoT), Cybersecurity. Digital Creative consists of 5 categories, including Graphic Design, Animation, Public Service Announcement, Creative Poster, Visual Storytelling. Then the Applied Skills field consists of Mechanical Design CAD, Innovative Building Design, Landscape Gardening Design, Interior Product Design, Applied Health Science. The Business and Finance field consists of Business Plan, Business Case, Finance & Banking.
The Hospitality and Tourism field consists of Cooking, Patisserie, Tourism Planning, Barista Competition. The Scientific Paper field consists of Social Humanities and Science and Technology. And finally the Speech and Debate field consists of English Debate and Public Speaking.
