The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) won The 3rd place at the 2020 Universitas Brawijaya Annual Quality Award (UBAQA) for the Faculty category.
This award was announced in conjunction with the 58th Anniversary of Universitas Brawijaya (UB) which was held online, yesterday, January 5, 2021.
UBAQA itself is an award program for faculties, departments, and academic supporting units with the best service, and is held to spur their excellent service performance.
“With this award, hopefully it can spur morale and cooperation from the entire Faculty of Engineering to provide better service,” said the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, M.T.
This year, present online at the celebration of UB’s anniversary, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo and the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, BA. MBA.
In his remarks, the President said that 2021 is a year full of hopes so that Indonesia can solve the health problems quickly and increase the economic activity that brings the progress of the Indonesian economy amidst the tight global competition.
Of course, he continued, this must be supported by preparedness in various fields, especially in the development of Indonesia’s talents who have a strong national character, who are always innovative, competitive, and are able to win the world’s hyper competition that are full of distractions and uncertainties.
Jokowi also appreciated UB as the university with the highest number of innovation patent applications during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I hope it didn’t stop in the number of patents, it must be followed by a partnership. Higher education must build the character of the younger generation who have a strong national spirit, who adhere to Pancasila, respect diversity in brotherhood and unity, have high integrity and are anti-corruption,” he concluded.
That morning the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim also said that Indonesia needs competent human resources. Graduates who are not only ready to work but also create jobs.
“To produce excellent graduates, Higher Education must be able to disrupt itself, so that it is more adaptive, flexible, and oriented towards the future,” said this founder of GOJEK. (mic)
