The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has once again demonstrated its commitment in improving the quality of international education. Through the 2024 Lecturer Works Program (DOKAR), UB Statistics Department has collaborated with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to internationalize and equalize the curriculum of the Data Science Undergraduate Study Program
This program is titled “Internationalization and Equalization of UB Data Science Undergraduate Study Program Curriculum with the National University of Singapore as an Effort for Sustainable Educational Collaboration”. In the series of activities, four lecturers from UB Statistics Department, namely Rahma Fitriani, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Head of Department), Dr. Eni Sumarningsih, S.Si., M.M. The National University of Singapore (NUS) itself is the best university in Asia and is 8th ranked in the world based on the QS World University Rankings 2024. The collaboration between UB and NUS not only focuses on equalizing the curriculum, but also opens up opportunities for students of the Undergraduate Data Science Study Program to participate in student exchange programs and cross-country academic activities.
Rahma Fitriani, Head of UB Statistics Department, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in building sustainable educational cooperation. “This collaboration not only aims to equalize the curriculum, but also paves the way for students of the Undergraduate Data Science Study Program to participate in student exchange programs in semester VI, which is equivalent to the MBKM (Independent Campus Independent Learning) activity,” she said.
The four lecturers involved in this activity hope to bring the best academic atmosphere from NUS to UB educational environment. This is expected to improve the quality of learning and research in the Department of Statistics, as well as create a more inclusive and innovative educational environment.
With the success of this initiative, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UB strengthens its position as an institution committed to sustainable education, and opens the door to long-term collaboration with leading universities in the world. This program is a strategic step in strengthening UB’s position in the international education arena, as well as improving the quality of graduates who are able to compete globally.
