Faculty of Law Inaugurates Museum HAM Munir at B Building FH UB

Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has once again demonstrated its commitment to support the enforcement of Human Rights (HAM) in Indonesia by inaugurating the Munir Human Rights Museum in B Building of the Faculty of Law (FH) UB. The inauguration was held solemnly and attended by various parties, including academics, human rights activists, and students.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony carried out by the Dean of the Faculty of Law UB, Dr. Aan Eko Widiarto, S.H., M.Hum., together with the Vice Rector for Finance and Resources of Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Dr. Ali Safaat, S.H., M.H.

After cutting the ribbon, both signed a plaque as a symbol of the official opening of the museum to the public.

In his remarks, Dr. Aan Eko Widiarto said that the inauguration of this museum was dedicated to honoring Munir’s struggle.

“The inauguration of the Munir Human Rights Museum is a real form of our dedication in honoring and continuing Munir’s struggle in upholding justice and human rights in Indonesia. We hope that this museum can become a center of education and reflection for the entire community, especially the younger generation, about the importance of maintaining human rights,” said Aan.

Prof. Ali also expressed his hope that this museum could be utilized by students and the community.

“This is an important step in keeping the memory of Munir’s struggle alive. I hope that this museum will not only be a place to remember, but also an inspiration for all to continue fighting for justice and human rights in this country,” said Prof. Ali.

The Munir Human Rights Museum is expected to become a center for human rights studies and the preservation of human values. This museum will display various collections related to Munir’s life journey and struggle, including important documents, photographs, and artifacts that illustrate his dedication to upholding human rights.

The inauguration ceremony then ended with a tour around the museum. Invited guests had the opportunity to see directly the various exhibitions on display.
