Industrial Engineering Design Project Expo Turns Ideas Into Prototypes

The Studio for Design Projects and Final Assignments at the Department of Industrial Engineering, FTUB, held the Odd Semester 2024/2025 Design Project Expo on Friday, November 29, 2024. The event, hosted in the parking area of the Industrial Engineering Building, showcased students’ innovative work through simulations and prototypes that integrate technical skills, critical thinking, and design processes developed over the semester. This year’s projects focused on case studies from local MSMEs in Malang City.

With the theme Minecraft and the tagline “From Pixel to Prototype: Craft Your Future, Build Your Masterpiece,” the expo began with an activity report delivered by the Head Organizer, Maureen C. P. Turnip. The event, open to the public, was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, 22 project partners, and 118 visitors.

“This activity involved 146 Industrial Engineering students from the 2021 cohort, divided into 23 groups,” stated Debrina Puspita Andriani, Ph.D., Head of the Studio for Design Projects and Final Assignments.

In her remarks, she expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders and emphasized the importance of design projects as the culmination of student learning.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FTUB, Dr.Eng. Ir. Indradi Wijatmiko, S.T., M.Eng.(Prac), who highlighted the potential for students’ innovative projects to be patented.

In addition to the exhibition, awards were presented to participants in various categories, including Best Evaluated Design Alignment, Best Idea Presenter, The Most Collaborative Team, Most Liked Instagram Content, Best Stand, and Best Participant. Group 13 Capstone Sikadh won the Best Evaluated Design Alignment award for its ergonomic multifunctional table design for MSME production processes.
