Six Study Programs of FILKOM Receive AQAS International Accreditation

FILKOM UB officially received AQAS International Accreditation Certificate, Thursday (2/2/2023). The handover activity was held in the 8th floor of Rectorate Building attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. drh. Aulanni’am, DES; Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. Ir. Moch. Sasmito Djati, M.S; Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Bambang Susilo, M.Sc.Agr; as well as the head of the Dean of FILKOM UB.

The Faculty of Computer Science succeeded in obtaining AQAS International Accreditation (Agentur für Qualitätssicherung Durch Akcreditierung von Studiengängen) after going through a field assessment from 22 to 26 August 2022 by Prof. Dr. Zhen Dai from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg, Germany); Prof. Dr. Gabriele Kunau from Fachhochschule Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany; Prof. Dr. Marco Platzner of Paderborn University, Germany; Barata Antariksa from TVET School, Bekasi; and Jessica Ziegler from the University of Potsdam, Germany (student representative).

In his interview, the Dean of FILKOM UB, Prof. Ir. Wayan Firdaus Mahmudy, S.Si., MT., Ph.D. said that AQAS accreditation is the same as general accreditation, both national and international, the difference is the learning standards, both the curriculum and facilities are  international standard.

“By obtaining this international accreditation it will make it easier for FILKOM alumni to continue their further studies abroad or to work abroad. In addition, prospective students, both from abroad and within the country, are sure of the quality of education at FILKOM UB,” he explained.

Six study programs from FILKOM that have received AQAS international accreditation, namely the Informatics Engineering Study Program (TIF); Computer Engineering (TEKKOM); Information Technology Education (PTI); Information System (SI); Information Technology (IT) and the Masters in Computer Science have all been accredited internationally, with three of them (TIF, TEKKOM and PTI) having unconditional status, meaning they pass without conditions. The validity period of this accreditation is 5 (five) years until 31 December 2028.

Prof. Wayan explained that the achievements received would not stop at AQAS. FILKOM’s next target after obtaining international accreditation was to open a new study program since the faculty already had good capacity in managing its resources and learning curriculum.

“Now is the time for expansion in the means of opening new study programs according to the needs of the community. Insha Allah in the near future, FILKOM will add new study programs, namely Masters (S2) in Information Systems, Doctoral (S3) Computer Science and it is possible that there will also be more Undergraduate (S1) such as Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence,” added Prof. Wayan.

On this occasion, Prof. Wayan also did not forget to thank all the FILKOM academic community, especially the AQAS accreditation team, who had struggled and tried, starting from collecting documents to the field assessment process so that they could get maximum results, namely international accreditation.
