The Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Brawijaya University (UB) became a venue for strategic discussions through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at the East Java Wood Product Fest 2023, which took place in the Photo Studio Room, 5th Floor, Malang Creative Center (MCC) on Wednesday (13/12 ). Official opening by Dr. Afifuddin Latif Adiredjo, Vice Dean 1 for Academic Affairs, FP UB, and direction from Dr. Sudarmalik, Head of the Sub-Directorate for Forest Product Management Patterns at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, this FGD illustrates the determination to explore the potential and challenges in the wood industry to strengthen the domestic market.
The presence of various parties, ranging from industry representatives, the general public, to academics, reflects continued enthusiasm and interest in the wood industry. The FGD was divided into two sessions, providing a forum for discussing “Development of Sustainable Domestic Market For Wood Products.” Statement of Dr. Sudarmalik, S.Hut., M.Si expressed pride in the East Java Wood Product Fest 2023, with the hope that this festival will become an effective bridge between policy makers, business actors and academics. The resulting collaboration is expected to provide a positive impetus for the growth of the domestic market for processed wood products, especially in East Java.
Involvement of various stakeholders, including the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Forest Product Management Patterns, KLHK, ITTO Project Manager, East Java Provincial Forestry Service, Perum Perhutani (Jatim) East Java Province, Malang Forest Service Branch (CDK), Trenggalek CDK, Nganjuk CDK, Industry Service and Trade (Disperindag) East Java Province, Industrial Representative PT. Kutai Timber Indonesia, Representatives of the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association, and Students of FP UB Forestry Study Program, marks a joint step in uniting the vision for the development of the timber industry in East Java. This FGD is not only a forum for discussing problems, challenges and opportunities, but also an important milestone in efforts to introduce and unite contributors who play a role in increasing domestic consumption of wood products.
