

As one of the tasks of the Tridharma of Higher Education, the Lecturer Works Team (DOKAR) of the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University (FH UB) collaborates with Osaka University and Sariraya Co.Ltd. carry out international community service to Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are in Japan.
The DOKAR FH UB team consisting of Rika Kurniaty, S.H., M.A., Ph.D, Dr. Sihabudin, S.H., M.H., Ikaningtyas, S.H., LLM., Ranitya Ganindha, S.H., M.H., Hanugrah Titi Habsari, S.H., M.H. and Afrizal Mukti Wibowo, S.H., M.H., carried out an initiative to introduce ‘free’ legal assistance to Indonesian citizens residing in Japan.
“This free legal assistance is part of the state’s responsibility towards its citizens who are outside Indonesia,” said Rika Kurniaty, as head of the DOKAR FH UB team. “Therefore, we from the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University, which includes the Legal Assistance and Consultation Agency (BKBH), took this opportunity to introduce ourselves and greet Indonesian citizens who are in Japan,” she added.
It is hoped that this free legal assistance can provide solutions to Indonesian citizens in Japan who have legal problems that require legal assistance or consultation. The Legal Assistance and Consultation Agency, Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University (BKBH FH UB) itself has free legal assistance services, both litigation and non-litigation services.

The DOKAR FH team conducted two legal outreach sessions, namely on Friday, November 3 2023 at the Toyota Islamic Center and on Saturday, November 4 2023 at the Nishio Darussalam Mosque. Participants in the counseling at the Toyota Islamic Center were approximately 60 Indonesian citizens, while at the Nishio Darussalam Mosque there were 80 Indonesian citizens and foreigners.
The DOKAR FH UB team on this occasion does not only provide legal counseling. At the end of their time in Japan on November 7 2023, the team signed an MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) with Sariraya Co.Ltd. for the activities that will be carried out next. In particular, fostering a spirit of business and entrepreneurship among students at Brawijaya University.

“We have students who take Entrepreneurship courses, so it is suitable for collaboration with Sariraya Co. Ltd.,” said Ikaningtyas, DOKAR FH UB team.
This activity was welcomed by the team from Sariraya Co.Ltd. Sariraya Company Co. Ltd. is a pioneer company for Indonesian halal food which has been in Japan since 2005.
