Supporting the implementation of the 2024 Asean University Games, Universitas Brawijaya is preparing health teams at two venues. This health team is a collaboration between Universitas Brawijaya Hospital and UB Clinic, which is placed in Samanta Krida Building and Pertamina-UB Sports Building.

Met on the sidelines of the Takraw match, Dr. Dr. Shahdevi Nandar Kurniawan, Sp.S(K) as the Health Coordinator said that his team had prepared a team during the activity. “Every day, our team consists of three doctors and four nurses, and there is a coordinator at each location who will be on duty until Saturday,” he explained.
Until the third day of the implementation, said Shahdevi, there had been no incidents involving the health team. “Even if there are cases, up to now they are still considered minor, such as sprains or minor injuries. However, we also prepared two ambulance units, one transport ambulance and one advanced ambulance which is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator or AED,” added the man who also serves as Deputy Dean for Student Affairs.

The health team at the 2024 Asean University Games is equipped with various equipment, such as stretchers, beds, various medical supplies, oxygen cylinders and other equipment.
Apart from doctors and nurses from two medical institutions, the health team is supported by five volunteers from the Student Health Institute of the Faculty of Medicine and the Emergency Response Team from the Faculty of Health Sciences. To synchronize medical readiness, the health team also regularly consults with the health team from the committee in Surabaya.
“The health team is tasked with handling everyone at the competition venue, from participants, committee, referees to officials. The referral flow has also been determined, for mild cases, they are taken to UB Clinic, for moderate cases they are taken to RSUB, while for serious cases they are taken directly to Dr. Saiful Anwar hospital,” he concluded.
