In the annual Pekan Raya Medika 2024 event organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FK KMK UGM) on 27-28 October 2024, dr. Domy Pradana Putra, Sp.OT from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (FKUB) managed to achieve proud achievements by bringing home two champion titles in the categories of Innovative Products and Innovative Product Posters.

In this competition, dr. Domy submitted three innovative products, namely VR Plate and Screw, Load Cell Alarm, and Necklock. Two of them, VR Plate and Screw and Load Cell Alarm, successfully passed the top 10 finalists in the Innovation Product category, while Necklock, which did not manage as a product finalist, still received recognition in the Innovation Product Poster category. This competition is an annual platform to encourage and appreciate innovation in the health sector.

“Load Cell Alarm won 3rd place in the innovation product category. This product is designed as a solution to support patients in the process of medical rehabilitation after lower limb surgery. With Load Cell Alarm, patients will receive a warning signal in the form of vibrations and lights if there is overloading of the load on the leg that is in the recovery period. This technology not only helps patients to be more confident in starting early mobilization, but also reduces the risk of complications due to non-compliance to the rehabilitation protocol,” said Doctor Domy.

Meanwhile, Necklock won 1st place in the innovation product category. The Necklock product is a new cervical collar system that is designed to be more compact and comfortable with soft and flexible materials, providing more comfort for patients. This tool has one size (all size) that can be used on various neck sizes, making it easier to use and store in health facilities.

The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya also played a major role in supporting the success of dr. Domy in this competition. FKUB provides full support in the form of accommodation for departure, return, and provision of booths during the event. This shows FKUB’s commitment in facilitating and encouraging lecturers and students to continue to innovate and actively participate in scientific competitions at the national level.

In the future, dr. Domy hopes that these innovations can provide greater benefits not only in Indonesia, but also abroad. He also hopes that FKUB can be more concerned and support the development of medical innovation so that it can compete at the national and even international levels. (DOM/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
