Universitas Brawijaya (UB) Graduation Period 14, Sunday (19/01/2025) was a special moment with the presence of two best graduates who brought inspiring stories from their respective fields.

Zefanya Dian Aurora, S.S

Zefanya Dian Aurora: Youngest Graduate Successfully Enters International Career

Zefanya Dian Aurora, S.S or familiarly called Ara, became the youngest graduate at this UB Graduation. At the age of 21, she earned a Bachelor degree in Chinese Literature from the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FCS) with a GPA of 3.84. Moreover, Ara had been accepted to work at PT Donlim Technology Indonesia, a Chinese company located in Demak before she officially graduated.

Ara tried to apply to the company after completing the thesis proposal seminar. While completing her thesis, she took various series of tests, until she was declared to have passed and had to take three months of training in Chuzhou, China.

“I was supposed to graduate last October, but I could only join now because I had to take training in China yesterday,” she said.

She found out about the recruitment from her friend at Chinese Literature who had been accepted earlier. The company even collaborated with FCS UB because they saw the potential of several interns and alumni of Chinese Literature who worked at the company.

Currently, Ara is placed in the Purchasing Material Control section and is also a Mandarin translator.

Ara is indeed interested in Chinese culture. In her thesis, the girl who was born and raised in Papua examines the representation of Chinese culture in game character elements, such as clothing, weapons, and symbols. Ara hopes that her work can be a reference and increase appreciation for cultural diversity.

Rapha L Rufus Sudarmono Brings New Spirit to Agriculture

Rapha L Rufus Sudarmono, S.P

Not many young people want to work in agricultural field, one of them is Rapha L Rufus Sudarmono, S.P, one of the best graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture who managed to achieve a GPA of 3.94.

According to Rapha, Agriculture will be greatly needed in the future because in this world it is impossible for people to no need to eat, and one way to get food is through agriculture.

“The point of satisfaction starts from the beginning such as planting, processing, until it can be sold to the public. It seems heavy and difficult because you have to sacrifice time to research products from the beginning until they can be known to the public, but that is a challenge in itself,” he said.

Rapha added that although Indonesia is rich in resources, until now it has not been able to process them properly and finally exports semi-finished goods even though as a country we should be able to process them into finished products with high selling prices, not just selling them.

His desire to expand into the agricultural sector, made him have to understand more and learning about the business. Therefore, he then continued his studies to a higher level.

His dream is to take a master’s degree in agriculture abroad.

“I am currently saving money to continue my study there. Therefore, I am currently trying to find a job in Australia by taking a Long Course in Hospitality,” he said.

Although it seems unrelated to agriculture, Rapha hopes that one day it can help him communicate with clients and potential buyers.

“More than that, I also have a dream of opening a restaurant in the future,” he said.

Rapha is the best graduate in FP Agribusiness study program with a GPA of 3.94 and a study period of 3 years and 7 months. [Irene/Oky/UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
