UB Lecturer Raises the Tourism Potential of  Jumpinang River Tubing Pasuruan

Community Service of Vocational Faculty Increases the Tourism Potential of Jumpinang River Tubing Pasuruan

Lecturers at the Vocational Faculty of Universitas Brawijaya (FVUB) held a community service program at Jumpinang River Tubing, Pasuruan, Monday, [10/06/2024]. The main aim of this program is to improve the quality of tourist destinations by introducing website creation as a promotional medium and improving the management of tourist attractions.

Team coordinator Pramadika Ramanda, M.AB said, Jumpinang River Tubing was chosen because it does not yet have a mature concept in destination planning management, which resulted in low tourism quality in terms of management and marketing.

The service team carried out initial identification of problems through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), identifying challenges such as lack of responsiveness of contact persons and less effective communication. Sustainable solutions include potential analysis, website creation, guiding and safety training for tourists, as well as physical design of the destination in stages.

In implementing this program, the service team involves active participation from the local management community. The local community responded positively to the presence of the service team, recognizing the importance of this effort in improving the quality of their destination.

“We really appreciate the community’s commitment to help improve the quality of Jumpinang River Tubing tourist destination,” said Pramadika, who is a lecturer in Hotel Management and tourist destination planning.

Then, Pramadika and the team plan to run a similar program in other destinations that have similar potential in East Java, such as at several tourist spots in Tuban City.

“It is hoped that this program can be an initial milestone in Vocational Faculty’s efforts to contribute sustainably to the development of local tourism,” he concluded. [Hilya/Irene/ UB PR/ Trans. Iir]
