Psychology Lecturer Provides Mental Health Material for Information Technology Tutors

Psychology Lecturer of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Ulifa Rahma, S.Psi., M.Psi. provided material on mental health for tutors in the field of information technology to understand the psychological conditions of students and teachers, especially in the challenging digital era. This activity was carried out via Zoom Meeting on Saturday (3/22/2025).

Ulifa said that the learning process is not just a transfer of material, but also involves emotional and social aspects that affect the effectiveness of learning.

“Teaching is not just about material. Tutors must be sensitive to the psychological conditions of students and teachers. We must be able to build effective communication and create a supportive learning environment so that students feel comfortable and motivated to learn,” said Ulifa

Tutors who are sensitive to the psychological conditions of students and teachers will be better able to create a safe and supportive learning environment. This is in line with Maslow’s theory, which emphasizes that individuals can only reach their optimal potential if their psychological needs are met, including a sense of security and social connectedness.

“Every student is unique. The biggest challenge for tutors is how to adapt their teaching methods to each student’s character, while maintaining healthy social interactions,” she added.

Ulifa was invited as a speaker in the IEEE Goes to School activity. The activity was attended by AI Teacher Tutors, IoT Student Tutors, the Scientific Publication Division, the Curriculum Division, and Respect.id volunteers. The activity was held by IEEE Brawijaya in collaboration with Respect.id.

The Chief Executive of IEEE Goes to School 2025, expressed her pride to the enthusiasm of the participants.

“This briefing is not just a formality. This is a long-term investment for tutors who will be the spearheads of change in the world of education. We want to ensure that our tutors not only master technology, but are also able to inspire students and teachers,” said Kak Najwa.

The activity was closed with emotion and a high spirit of collaboration. The tutors are ready to go into the field, implement the knowledge gained, and become role models in the use of technology that is wise, inclusive, and humanistic. (fer/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
