Lecturer of Personality Development Lecturing Center, Universitas Brawijaya (PMPK UB) conducts socialization of digital-based character education learning instruments to teachers in Malang, Friday (2/10/2020).
“The activity which is a part of community service is carried out at State Junior High School (SMPN) 3 Malang City,” said Triya Indra Rahmawan, Head of the Activity Implementation Team.
In the activity, the PMPK team also shared information and solutions to character education, especially in the implementation of distance / online / digital learning in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
They also provide training in making learning videos for teachers of SMPN3 Malang City.
PMPK UB Lecturer Team presented two speakers, they are Dr. Nur Chanifah, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I and Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko, M.Si.
According to Nur Chanifah, appropriate learning methods during a pandemic are important for students’ character building.
Since the students are learning online during the pandemic, the character education taught in schools is often missed.
“What has happened so far is that there are only theoretical assignments so that it still tends to be Moral Knowledge – Moral Action. There is an important component that has been omitted or missed, which is moral feeling. This moral feeling will powerfully move a person to do good with high awareness. If the activities in the form of assignments related to the moral feeling are accustomed to being carried out by students, a moral responsibility will be formed towards them so that the basic goals of education can be achieved, ”said Nur Chanifah.
After delivering the material, the activity was continued with training on making learning videos based on OBS (Open Broadcaster Software).
Pitoyo Widhi Atmoko provides training for teachers to make learning videos that are easy and effective. The community service activities at SMPN 3 Malang City went well and smoothly accompanied by enthusiasm from the teachers. Even, there is a desire from the teachers of SMPN 3 Malang City to follow up on this kind of activity in another time considering the huge benefits received.
“We, the implementing team consisting of Destriana Saraswati, Galieh Damayanti and M. Jainuri, would like to thank the Principal and teachers of SMPN 3 Malang City because this activity can be carried out well by still paying attention to health protocols,” said Triya.
According to Triya, this activity is a form of concern for education problems in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Schools, of course, need tips and strategies in the efforts to build and educate characters during the COVID-19 pandemic, so that efforts to shape and educate students’ character can still be done,” he said.
This idea was well appreciated by teachers and staff of SMPN3 Malang City.
“Character education is indeed the main problem in online learning,” said Zainal Akhsan as the Vice Principal of SMPN 3 Malang City. [DES / Humas UB/ Trans. Iir].
