Team of Lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono, S.P., MP, Ph.D., Muhammad Akhid Syib’li, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., and Ito Fernando, S.P., M.P., M.Sc. visited Hokkaido University (Hokudai) in order to strengthen the relationship between the two parties through the Lecturer Works Program (DOKAR).
On this occasion, Visiting Lecturers, Muhammad Akhid Syib’li, S.P., M.P. Ph. D. and Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono, S.P., M.P., Ph.D. gave a guest lecture to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Research Faculty of Agriculture, which was attended by students from Indonesia who were currently studying there.
In the guest lecture, Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono, Ph.D explained the threat of climate change to the agricultural sector and mitigation efforts that could be implemented, while Muhammad Akhid Syib’li, Ph.D. explained from a molecular perspective the mechanism of resistance of the pathogenic fungus Pyricularia oryzae to fungicides.
The FP lecturer team also met with Prof. Teruo Sone, Ph.D. the head of the Graduate School of Global Food Resources to explore possible collaborations between UB and Hokudai, such as research collaboration, student exchange, and Double Degree.
Student exchange activities can be carried out through the summer school program, also students at the Graduate School of Global Food Resources are required to study outside Japan, and UB is considered a suitable partner. For the Double Degree program, the Research Faculty of Agriculture is very interested in the program, especially for the Doctoral level, cooperation between UB and Hokudai will be realized immediately after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Memorandum of Agreement documents by both parties.
