Edita Rosana Widasari, S.T., M.T., M.Eng. Ph.D., and Rakhmadhany Primananda, S.T., M.Kom., lecturers at the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya (FILKOM UB), participated in the Sustainability Sprint: Building Future Cities Workshop, an international workshop held at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, on (7/11-8/11/2024). This workshop is part of the initiative of The Science, Technology, and Sustainable Cities Innovation Network in Southeast Asia (STSCIN), which aims to strengthen the capacity of Southeast Asian countries in dealing with critical issues related to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG11) on inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and settlements.
“We were invited to join a series of intensive discussions and presentations in an onsite workshop. The workshop brought together selected innovators and experts to present their ideas in an effort to realize sustainable cities in Southeast Asia. The results of this workshop will form the basis for collaborative projects aimed at supporting the development of sustainable cities in the Southeast Asia region in the future,” explained Edita.
This workshop was attended by innovators and experts from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and China. In the workshop sessions, various innovative ideas were discussed, ranging from smart transportation solutions, food security management, to the development of resilient infrastructure. The discussions provided in-depth insights into the challenges and opportunities for creating a more sustainable urban environment, and the results will be used as a basis for further cooperation among Southeast Asian countries.
FILKOM sees this workshop as a great opportunity to expand its international collaboration network. With strong expertise and resources in the field of information and computer technology, FILKOM is ready to contribute through research, development of technology-based solutions, and capacity building of human resources, all of which are in line with global efforts to create sustainable cities. This collaboration is expected to strengthen FILKOM UB’s position as a trusted partner in overcoming various urban challenges through innovation and sustainable approaches, as well as opening the way for more international collaborations that have a positive impact on the Southeast Asia region.
