In an effort to expand collaboration on research and community service, Lecturer of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FHUB), Dr. Herlindah, S.H., M.Kn., visited the Modern Islamic Boarding School of Daarush-Shafaa wal-Wafaa’ (Darul Wafa’), South Bangka Regency. The visit which took place on 16 and 18 January 2025, aimed at building a network between academics, religious scholars, and local community leaders.
During her visit, Dr. Herlindah first visited the residence of Prof. Dr. Rusydi Sulaiman, M.Ag., a cleric and Head of Fatwa and Research Division of MUI Bangka Belitung. He also serves as Dean of the Faculty of Da’wah and Islamic Communication of IAIN Syaikh Abdurrahman Siddik Bangka Belitung.
“We discussed the potential for collaboration in research and community service, especially in the management of productive waqf in Islamic boarding schools,” said Dr. Herlindah.
She added that this meeting also opened up opportunities for cooperation in aligning perceptions between agrarian law applicable in society (living law) and positive law in Indonesia.

On the second day, Dr. Herlindah attended a meeting at the Secretariat which was also attended by the Head of the Islamic Boarding School, Ustad Suhardiansyah and several community leaders, such as H. Rustam Efendi, H. Azim, and H. Sandri. In the discussion that took place in the beautiful atmosphere of the Islamic boarding school, various aspects of agrarian law and management of waqf land became the main topics of discussion.
“There are many interesting things that can be studied further, especially in the management of waqf land for sustainable development,” explained Dr. Herlindah. She also emphasized the importance of collaborative research between academics and the Islamic boarding school community in order to provide real benefits to the community.

Closing the meeting, Dr. Herlindah expressed her hope that the collaboration between FHUB and the Darul Wafa Islamic Boarding School would soon be realized.
“We will discuss the right research scheme, whether through internal or external research, and determine the focus of the study,” she said.
According to Dr. Herlindah, lecturers need to go directly to various remote areas of Indonesia to understand the socio-economic conditions of the community deeper. “Behind the wealth of Indonesia’s natural resources, there are still many inequalities that we need to fix together,” she concluded.
