FH UB Lecturer Leads ASPERHUPIKI

Fachrizal Afandi, S.Psi., S.H., M.H., Ph.D.

Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya, Fachrizal Afandi, S.Psi., S.H., M.H., Ph.D. was elected as General Chair of the Association of Teachers of Criminal Law and Criminology (ASPERHUPIKI). This association was just born to coincide with the 78th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, the management structure was set for August 19, 2023 which according to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Topo Santoso, was inspired by the Birthday of the Supreme Court and also the Ministry of Justice, which was the starting point for the establishment of the national legal system.

This association was born from the encouragement of several criminal law professors and academics to strengthen the network of academics on campus in carrying out the Tridharma of Higher Education related to criminal law in a multi-disciplinary manner.

At the launch and introduction of ASPERHUPIKI management and the Criminal Law Teaching Strategy Webinar after the ratification of the National Criminal Code on September 1 2023, Prof. Dr. Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, S.H., M.Hum Professor of Criminal Law at Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Vice Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia stated that it is time for criminal law and criminology teachers to have an association that specifically develops teaching strategies, research and community service related to criminal law.

“The ratification of Law number one of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code earlier this year is the right moment to establish ASPERHUPIKI. Furthermore, many meetings are needed to sit together to discuss curriculum, syllabus, modules related to the spirit of the National Criminal Law,” he said while conveying his willingness to assist ASPERHUPIKI activities in the future.

Also present at this activity, Prof. Dr. Barda Nawawi Arief, S.H., Professor of Criminal Law, Diponogoro University, Semarang. Prof. Dr. Topo Santoso, S.H. M.H., Prof. Dr. Pujiyono, S.H. M. Hum, Prof. Dr. Hibnu Nugroho, S.H., M.H. as well as moderator Dr. Rena Yulia, S.H., M.H.
