Pharmacy Lecturers and UMS Conduct Community Service Collaboration at Belud City Sabah

A total of two lecturers from the Department of Pharmacy carried out a series of visits and collaborations in community service activities in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

In a series of visits carried out over two days on (20/1-21/1/2024) to UMS, Kinabalu City, Sabah, Malaysia, a team from the Department of Pharmacy, namely Dr.apt. Valentia Yurina, M.Si and apt. Ayuk Lawuningtyas, M.Farm carried out community service activities with the topic “Prevention of Antimicrobial Resistance” in Belud City, Sabah, Malaysia.

Valentina Yurina in her interview said that this activity was one part of a series of PKM activities funded by Southeast Asia One Health University (SEAOHUN) – USAID with the head of the the activity is apt. Efta Triastuti, Ph.D., M.Farm Klin. A series of activities with the same funding have also been carried out in five different elementary school locations in Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, in September – December 2023.

This activity in Belud City, Sabah, Malaysia collaborated with The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UMS with the PIC of the activity, Dr. Zulkhairul Naim Sidek.

In this activity, the presenters provided training to 200 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan and Sekolah Kebangsaan Piasau, Belud City to be able to recognize the dangers of antimicrobial resistance and how to combat this resistance.

This activity was also filled with the problem of antimicrobial resistance through interactive games and storytelling competitions (An4nk – FKUB PR/OKY/UB PR/ Trans. Iir)
