Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) implements the Tri Dharma of Higher Education regarding community service, Saturday (4/3/2023). Chaired by Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, a team consisting of Prof. Djalal Rosyidi, Dr. Mustakim, Dr. Khothibul Umam Al Awwaly, Dr. Herly Evanuarini, Dr. Premy Puspitawati Rahayu, Prof. Nurul Isnaini, Prof. Sri Wahjuningsih, Dr. Heli Tistiana, Jaisy Aghniarahim Putritamara, M.P. as well as involving five students, such as Asri Reken Prianti, Erik Anugrah Pamungkas, Alia Salsabilla Putri, Silvia Rosa Al Rahma, and Nur Rohman Rizqi Pudya Permana.

The activity was carried out at the Integrated Insan Middle School (SMPIT) and Integrated Insan Elementary School (SDIT) which are under the auspices of Insan Permata Foundation, Malang City. Participants consisted of SMPIT and SDIT kitchens as well as several teaching ustadz and ustadzah. While the theme raised was “Counseling, Processing, Packaging, and Storage of Processed Livestock Products for Healthy Menus for School Catering”.

Dr. Dedes said this service was based on the kitchen staff’s limited knowledge regarding the processing of livestock products into meatballs and nuggets. So the school still uses ready-to-eat frozen food purchased on the market. Even though these products contain food preservatives which have side effects if consumed continuously.

Therefore, Dedes and friends provide counseling and assistance in the process of making, packaging, and storing livestock products. Among them healthy meatballs, nuggets, yogurt, and salted eggs. Besides that, they also donated meat choppers, meatball boilers, meatball printing tools, and sealers with limited product processing knowledge to facilitate the production process.

“We hope that through this activity we can provide knowledge and skills in the manufacture, packaging and storage of processed livestock products. So that the menu served is of a higher quality which is good for student growth and development,” explained Dedes

“Besides that, after the training, it is hoped that it will be able to grow ideas and opinion in entrepreneurship for the participants,” he continued (dedes/dta/HUMAS UB/ Trans. Iir)
